Lindsay B. Coleman, Of Counsel, has significant matrimonial and family law experience including court appointments as a guardian ad litem, is a certified mediator and a collaborative law fellow. Ms. Coleman graduated from Miami University at Oxford, Ohio in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (pre-law) and Communication and with Minors in Ethics, Sociology, and Philosophy. While a student a Miami University, Ms. Coleman underwent the forty (40) hour mediation training with Conflict Resolution Services and Violence Prevention Program located at Hamilton Municipal Court to become a certified mediator for the court system. The following semester, she was the co-supervisor and co-trainer of the program. Also, Ms. Coleman was a double Division I athlete and actively involved in her social sorority, holding a handful of leadership positions as co-chairs regarding philanthropy and vice presidency.
After graduating from Miami University, Ms. Coleman proceeded to attend law school at the University of Missouri – Columbia, Missouri, receiving a Juris Doctorate (JD) in 2002. While in law school, Ms. Coleman was an Assistant State’s Attorney at Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office in Waukegan, in part, as an Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711. Ms. Coleman is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and in the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois.
Ms. Coleman’s legal expertise focuses on all aspects of Family and Domestic Relations Law, including but not limited to divorce, parentage, post-decree matters, and grandparents’ rights cases. She is extensively involved in representing children as a Guardian Ad Litem (“GAL”) and/or Child’s Representative. In addition to extensive litigation, Ms. Coleman is certified as a mediator, both court-appointed and agreed upon, as well as trained in the area of collaborative law as an option for resolving cases.
Ms. Coleman holds Make-a-Wish close to her heart, giving time and toys to the children of the Chicagoland area. Further, she gives her time to the community by putting together and presenting seminars for both colleagues and members of the community relative to Domestic Relations and Collaborative Law with being a Fellow with the Collaborative Institute of Illinois so as to educate others with current legal topics.
