1. Communication is key. If you can’t do so via email or text then sign up for Our Family Wizard to have a mutually agreeable space to communicate that can also weigh in on the “tone” of the communications.
2. Follow the agreed upon parenting time schedule (allowing for reasonable flexibility in pick up and drop off times only for exigent circumstances).
3. Follow the agreed upon decision-making plan for education, medical, extracurricular and religion.
4. Show up for the minor children. Remain cordial and give yourself physical space at school functions, sports events, and the like.
5. Speak of your ex only in complimentary terms in front of the minor children.
6. Do not discuss money, child support, or child-related expenses in front of the children.
7. Avoid conflict at all costs, but do not become a doormat. The allocation judgment of parental responsibilities should be adhered to by both parties and is enforceable when a party is non-compliant.
